Urban Warmth, Wild Touches

This warm Castro backyard had been neglected for years, however the new homeowner envisioned a vibrant, inviting space for both people and pollinators. We designed a layout that blends structure with softness, featuring custom Corten steel planters and gravel patio cutouts filled with plantings to define distinct zones. An over sized fire pit anchors the space, with removable steel posts that double as hammock holders creates a perfect environment four lounging by the fire. Edible garden beds and habitat friendly plantings complete this multifunctional retreat, designed to feel lived in, loved, and alive.
