Camp Comfort, Wild Roots

Autocamp, a new airstrip hotel in Guerneville, needed a landscape design that could be implemented quickly without sacrificing intention. The goal was to create a sense of place that felt both grounded and immersive. I designed a planting palette inspired by the surrounding wilderness, using native and naturalized species to give guests and authentic camping experience. As the landscape matures, it will offer increasing privacy and personal space around each airstream. A large central meadow serves as the heart of the camp for a communal space for gatherings, play, and connection. Gravel paths wind through the site, guiding guests through a thoughtfully wild environment that feels both designed and discovered.
