Modern Lines, Wild Edges

This custom designed and built house by the owner has a strong architectural presence. My job was to make sure the landscape did not compete with it. In the front yard yard we custom built steel planter beds to echo the homes modern facade and filled them with highly textured grasses. We added a light mix of seasonal perennials and annuals to add soft touches of color. Along the side yard we began to transform an ivy covered slope to a native style landscape by introducing a mix of grasses, shrubs, annuals, and perennials. The result is a balance of bold structure and soft habitat, reclaiming space for both people and pollinators.
